Always set yourself up for success. Reading through chapter
three reminded me of how important goal setting is for the present and the
future. Just setting goals for yourself wont get you far unless; you plan on
how you’re going to accomplish them. Goal setting gives you something to strive
for and ensures you to start off in the right direction. This all ties with
taking agency. Preparing yourself with goals to aim for shows initiative.
There are 3
types of goals you can set for yourself: long, mid, and short range. For
example, a short-range goal may be to do well on a test this week. Mid range
goal, pass the course with an A. And a long-term goal become a doctor.
According to chapter 3 there are steps to take in the goal setting process. 1. Be
aware of yourself : your personal interests, abilities and talents. 2.
Awareness of your options 3. Awareness of the options that best fit you. And
lastly, 4. Awareness of the process. Goals you choose to pursue say about who
you are as a person and what you want from life.
Now that
your goals are set, how do you plan on accomplishing them? I think the number
one way to accomplish something is by believing in yourself. It is possible to
do anything to set your mind to do with a little hard work and determination.
Agency factors in to how you are going to evaluate yourself overall. By
tracking your progression, figuring out what techniques work for you and
changing ones that don’t, are steps that will move you forward in college, but
more importantly, life.
Find out
what sets your heart on fire, set your goal, and organize how to plan to accomplish
it then, take action. Following these few steps will not leave you disappointed,
but successful and accomplished.
