Helpful Hints for Succeeding in College

This inquiry class has really helped me make the transition from high school to college. So far I’ve picked up a lot of useful information that I plan on using during my years in college.  I’ve realized how important it is to set goals for myself in preparation for success. One technique that I find useful is the importance of good note taking as well as knowing what is important to include in these notes. I have also realized that while doing homework, a project ,or studying for a test it is important to work smart and stay focused on my work.
Many of these elements I plan on implementing into my personal schedule. I think it is important to develop expert habits now so that they will stick with me throughout my college career. So far I have been setting short-term goals for myself for example, to get a good grade on my math quiz. Although this a short term goal for the present it will lead to a long term goal for my future. I know that it is important to work hard now and it will be well worth it when it pays off in the future.
Along the way I’ve came across things that aren’t useful to me but just slow me down. Procrastination was a big problem that I used to have. I realized that putting off my work only stresses me out more and just leads to incomplete or work that doesn’t show the best of my ability. Thus, it is not beneficial to spend a lot of time on something but not actually putting any effort in.  Multitasking also doesn’t help out students because it actually takes longer to get work done and may cause the student to miss out on important facts because they don’t have 100% focus on their work.
As a student I plan on fulfilling my personal goals by trying my hardest. My number one goal is to get good grades in all of my classes. Following this goal I hope to manage my time in an efficient way so I have time for school work, clubs, work and friends without stressing myself out.
