Since I am a new blogger, I enjoyed
looking at all types of blogs. Along the way I gathered ideas of what to do and
what not to do in my blog. One of my
main focuses is to hook my readers and keep them interested in my writing.
One of the
first blogs I read, was a blog by the name of “The Choice” in the New York Times. I found this particular
blog, geared toward junior and seniors in high school, to be extremely helpful
and interesting for students planning on applying for colleges. This blog
included a checklist that made the blog well organized and easy for the reader
to follow.
Recently, I
have realized how helpful blogs can be and how easy they are to access and find
out information. Within a few seconds it is easy to get on the Internet using a
smartphone, computer or Ipad at your convenience. This makes blogs a good
resource for you to read about your topic of choice.
A blog in
particular that sticks out in my mind was Tagans
Kitchen blog. What I liked about this blog was the appealing pictures displayed
that showed what exactly the author was explaining. For example, a recipe was
posted on how to make “Golden Raspberry Jam”. The author included several
pictures of the jam as it is being made. Blogs that include images, I feel,
help the reader to grasp the main idea.
Another thing I liked was the blogs that were informative, by presenting
facts, as well as interesting material such as videos or how to tutorials. This
technique of using videos or posting how to tutorials, I feel, keeps the blog
organized instead of confusing.
Throughout
this semester I plan on making my blog as interesting as possible. My goal is to hook every reader that lays
eyes on my blog. I will do this by bringing up interesting topics, including
pictures and videos, and keeping my blog well organized and easy to read. The
opinions I bring up in my posts will also have facts to back them up as well as
links to other websites addressing my topic.
All and
all, I think blogging is an extremely useful resource for people of all ages. I
encourage all readers to make a blog of their own, if they haven’t already, and
start posting!
